News release—for immediate release

Ottawa — October 30, 2023 — The Union des cultivateurs franco-ontariens (UCFO), jointly with the Agricultrices du Québec’s Dimension E program, is proud to announce the return of the AgriMentor program. Designed to offer an individual coaching service, AgriMentor mainly targets women in the agricultural sector, whatever their role.

The AgriMentor program establishes a mentoring network made up exclusively of women with solid experience in the agricultural sector. It is designed to meet the needs of women working in agriculture nationwide, whether they are French or English-speaking.

AgriMentor targets a diverse audience of women active in the agricultural sector, including female farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs, producers’ spouses, farm workers, professionals in career transition, professionals working closely with farmers, as well as female agricultural students. Individual coaching will be provided over a six-month period. Each mentee enrolled in the program will have the chance to benefit from the support of a female mentor during monthly meetings held virtually, making the program accessible to all Canadian women.

“We’re delighted to support and promote the growth of women in the agricultural sector by offering a mentoring space tailored to their needs and realities. AgriMentor is a unique opportunity to strengthen women’s leadership in agriculture, promote knowledge sharing and foster the professional growth of women farmers,” said Roxanne Lormand, executive director of the Union des cultivateurs franco-ontariens

“AgriMentor is an essential initiative for empowering women in the agricultural sector. This program offers a unique platform for the professional development and the affirmation of women’s presence within the agricultural industry. We are proud that the UCFO is our main partner in implementing this specific aspect of our Dimension E program,” said France De Montigny, executive director of Agricultrices du Québec.

The continued collaboration between the UCFO and Agricultrices du Québec in the Dimension E program marks a major step forward in supporting women’s leadership in the agricultural sector. AgriMentor provides an environment conducive to exchanging knowledge, stimulating professional growth and affirming the presence of women in agriculture.
